A furnace installed correctly will run quietly and efficiently for two decades. One installed carelessly will short-cycle, run noisy, and fail early — regardless of what the box cost. It starts with a heat-loss calculation for your actual home rather than a rule of thumb. Bigger is not better with furnaces: an oversized unit satisfies the thermostat fast, shuts off, and leaves you with cold spots, temperature swings, and a blower that never runs long enough to mix the air in the house.
We then match equipment to how you live. A single-stage furnace is a solid value choice. Two-stage and modulating furnaces with variable-speed ECM blowers run longer and gentler, which evens out temperatures between floors — a real difference in three-storey Toronto semis and older homes with weak second-floor returns.
Installation includes proper venting for a condensing appliance, correct gas line sizing, a condensate drain and neutralizer where required, duct transitions that do not choke airflow, full combustion analysis, permit and inspection, and warranty registration. We commission the system with you, show you the filter and shutoff, and leave the site clean.

We calculate the actual heat loss of your home and size to it — which frequently means a smaller unit than what is being replaced.
Single-stage is the value option and is either fully on or off. Two-stage runs at reduced capacity most of the time for gentler, more even heat. AFUE is the percentage of fuel converted to usable heat. A mid-efficiency furnace at 80% sends a fifth of your gas bill up the vent; a condensing furnace at 96% sends almost none. The trade-off is that condensing appliances need different venting and a condensate drain, which we handle as part of the job.
